
Meet Jamie
Jamie LaFever is a Newport News based performer currently studying for a degree in Musical Theater and Art Administration at Christopher Newport University. She was a competitive dancer for 11 years prior to her graduation in Williamsburg VA.During her time as a competitive dancer, she received numerous judges awards, scholarships, and overall placements over the years. Some of her biggest achievements include: 2x division national championship winner, 1x national title winner, 3x national title runner up, 4x national vocal championship winner, 3x receiver of a broadway star including the coveted Triple Threat Performer Broadway Star and upon her graduation, she was the most decorated competitor in her dance studio’s history.During her middle school years, Jamie exhibited an interest in Musical Theater and from that point on she became involved with her school musical and play productions while continuing to dance competitively. Productions she was involved in include Tarzan, Mamma Mia, and Rock of Ages: High School Edition. Jamie was the youngest ever dance captain for her high school her freshman year and then transitioned to the role of student choreographer her sophomore and junior years. During this time, Jamie was also accepted into the Joffery Ballet School’s Musical Theater Summer Intensive on a scholarship which she participated in twice both in NYC and London.Since graduation, Jamie LaFever has went on to study Musical Theater and Arts Administration with a Dance minor at Christopher Newport University on multiple arts scholarships. One of her most notable credits so far is getting the chance to perform as Berthe in TheaterCNU’s Pippin her freshman year. In addition, Jamie was also a dancer for both the 13th and 14th annual dance concerts, a student choreographer for the 13th Annual Dance concert, dancer and choreographer for the CNU Dance Company’s Dance Experiment, Assistant Stage Manager for Everybody, actor in the 2021 Director’s Showcase, and Wardrobe Manager for Dead Man’s Cell Phone.Jamie LaFever is also heavily involved on campus. In Fall 2022, Jamie was initiated into Alpha Psi Omega Delta Zeta Chapter, CNU’s theater honor fraternity. Later in Spring 2023, she was appointed Vice President of Alpha Psi Omega. She is a founding member of the CNU Dance Company, serving as member, choreographer, and Public Relations/Social Media Manager and later stepping into the role of Vice President. Jamie LaFever is beyond excited to start this new chapter at United Performing Arts and cannot wait to start working with these wonderful students, faculty, families, and founders.
