Meet Shawn

Miss Shawn recently sold Broadway Dance Arts, the studio she founded in Williamsburg, Va. after 21 years of ownership. Previous to owning BDA, she worked as a professional dancer, choreographer, actress and vocalist at venues around the country. These venues include Busch Gardens (Tampa & Wlmbg.), Opryland USA, dinner theatres and touring companies. Other performance mediums include judging for dance competitions & pageants, television shows (New Detectives, FBI Files), commercials (The Rep Theatre, Busch Gardens) and in film (Model Behavior).   Locally, she has choreographed for and performed at the Williamsburg Players Theatre, ("Matilda" - Mrs. Wormwood, "Cats", "A Chorus Line" & "The Producers" (Chor.) and for area school musicals. Her choreography has won many First-Place Overall awards at the National level along with multiple Best Director, Best Choreography, Best Sportsmanship, Best Costuming, Most Entertaining awards and the prestigious Studio of Excellence at KAR and Best Studio at Access Broadway. She is very excited to now be working as a freelance choreographer and instructor, focusing on what she loves the most, working with the young and upcoming performers. Many of her former dancers have gone on to professional careers in Broadway Tours, theme park shows and on cruise ships. She is so proud of them and feels blessed to have had a hand in guiding them toward their future in the entertainment industry.
